Physical Education

We have designed our curriculum with the pupils’ development in mind. We aim to give our pupils the best opportunities in a range of activities that allow for development of their physical, cognitive, social and emotional skills in PE. Pupils apply and develop these broad range of skills, throughout school, to learn how to use them in different ways and to link them. Through continuous, formative assessment, pupils are then confident to evaluate and recognise their own success.
We have developed the curriculum on aspects of improving skills, thinking, being social and being healthier; this has allowed pupils to be more active in PE. We have worked on a range of activities through school, giving all pupils the opportunity to try, develop and master these skills.
All units of PE are timetabled to come before planned inter-school competitions, as a way for pupils to develop and practice their skills beforehand. This also allows for teachers to identify children for competitions and related clubs in school.
